$200,000 raised in a single night.

Growth Strategy and Organisational Development. Medical Foundation. United States. 2023.

Context

An Ivy League-affiliated medical foundation operating internationally engaged RLD Growth ahead of their primary annual fundraising event, attended by alumni and faculty from Harvard Medical School, Stanford Medicine, UCLA Health and the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, the foundation's mandate being the placement of student doctors into underserved communities across the Philippines and the United States.

Diagnostic Findings

External positioning was misaligned with the calibre of the institutional network behind the organisation, no systematic donor development process existed ahead of the event, and the communication architecture was not built around how an institutional donor makes a decision.

Scope of Work

A proprietary donor propensity scoring architecture was built and deployed across the full alumni and institutional contact database before a single communication was sent, aggregating graduation cohort, medical specialty, institutional affiliation, prior giving history and engagement behaviour into a predictive model that ranked every contact by likelihood to contribute above a defined threshold, the output tiering the entire database into distinct engagement populations each operating under a separate contact strategy, sequencing priority and personalisation framework, ensuring commercial resource across the engagement window was allocated in direct proportion to predicted return rather than distributed uniformly across the population. Additional interventions included offline-to-online integration architecture, frictionless giving infrastructure, personalised impact communication and event-night giving architecture.

Outcome

Reach increased 128 percent across the campaign window, unique visitor engagement grew 150 percent, and the foundation raised $200,000 on the night.

"The work Ruben did for our organisation ahead of our annual event was transformational. He thinks differently to anyone I have worked with before."
